Pore Minimizer/Primer Dupes

Hey all!

So recently I have read many a post about a multitude of Benefit products. One that has stood out among the rest is Benefit’s Porefessional. This product is a face primer and pore minimizer. Sounds great doesn’t it?! Well, the only downside is the price. Running around the $30 mark, the Porefessional is definitely a high-end product. While that is all fine and dandy, sometimes I don’t want to spend that much on a product that you can’t even see; like a primer.

So, whilst I was recently at my local Target, I came across the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. The packaging looked similar, and the descriptions looked like they performed the same kind of duty- yet the Maybelline one was substantially less expensive at around $6.

After purchasing both, I decided to test them out separately and evaluate whether or not the Maybelline primer would be a dupe for the Benefit one.

First, the Benefit Porefessional: I was immediately impressed by the texture of this product. The color was a light beige, and melded with the color of my skin once applied. I applied the balm with my fingers, and spread it all over my face- especially around my nose and mouth where my pores are larger. While I didn’t notice a substantial pore minimizing happen, I did notice that when applied underneath my foundation the Porefessional made my foundation last longer throughout the day.

Now for the dupe;

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser: Applied the same way, I rubbed the balm onto my face with my fingers. The color of this product was clear, and it made my skin slightly less smooth than the Porefessional but still very soft. I noticed that again this product helped keep my makeup on longer however it did have one downside: After a few hours of wear, it seemed like my foundation would begin to slip off my face, particularly around my forehead area. I’m not sure if this was because I didn’t blend the primer well enough, or perhaps this primer just doesn’t soak into the skin as well as the Porefessional.

Overall, I still think that Benefit’s the Porefessional is the better investment, but if you’re looking for an inexpensive alternative Maybelline’s Baby Skin should work!

What face primers do you use?!

  1. Lancôme La Base or Lancôme Éclat Miracle, just for special occasions, .With the first one I can use less foundation. The second one has light reflecting properties and gives an extra glow to skin. Neither one is inexpensive, but they will last along time the way I use them.
