I moved to London!

Hi friends!

So, big news, I’ve moved. And not just down the block or to another town. I up and moved across the world.

And so far, so good.

Let’s give you a back story, shall we?

I have been in love with fashion since I was a little girl. My favorite part of playing with Barbies when I was younger was buying them accessories and dressing them up time and time again.

One of my University degrees is in fashion, and the town I was living in was just not cutting it as far as inspiration and opportunity goes. And if this is the path I want to take in life, I need to be in an area where that can happen.

Luckily, I was admitted into an incredible program here so I can be surrounded by fashionable individuals in an incredible city where I can learn and grow as a creative person.

I’m so excited!!

Of course it’s also been difficult. Not having family or friends here, having to learn the city yourself (and get lost- a lot) and sometimes just sitting in your room make for a difficult adjustment. But then I’m reminded that I’m 100% surrounded by beauty, fashion, architecture, history and so much more. If I’m ever lonely I can find comfort in the many art museums, make new friends at one of the local coffee shops or simply ride the tube around town to *attempt to* gain some sort of bearing on this city.

So, I hope you’ll stick around for this crazy adventure of mine- I can’t wait to share it with you all 🙂

Until next time,

Free Sample Friday: Living Proof Style Extender

Hi friends!

This week I have been trying out a new sample product: the Living Proof Prime Style Extender. This product boasts to prime and extend your hairstyle- keeping it looking better for longer.

As far as application goes I waited until my hair had air-dryed a bit and was damp before applying this product. I used about a quarter-sized amount and ran it through my hair from the ends up to the roots. I LOVE how smooth this product feels in my hair! Not only does it keep my hair from getting tangled but it feels SO SOFT! After fixing up my hair for the day, I went about my normal routine.

The next day, I woke up to my hair still looking smooth and frizz-free. Normally, my hair looks quite tangled in the morning and I have to touch up the styling before going about my day. However, after using this product I could really tell a difference. Not only was my hair incredibly smooth, but I honestly didn’t have to re-straighten any pieces! What?! Yes, this is real life.

So impressed.

It’s available on Sephora.com here in sizes ranging from 2-24 ounces. Online it goes for $12-$59.

Would I purchase a full-size? Yup. I am really impressed with this styling goodie!

DIY Hair Bows

Hi friends!

I recently purchased a new sewing machine- yay finally! – and have been playing on it daily since. Don’t you just love when you find a hobby you’re so passionate about that you can spend hours doing it and it feels like no time at all has passed?

That’s how sewing is for me.

I’ve noticed a spike in hair accessory trends lately- they are all over the fall runways. This gave me the idea to play around with different hair bow patterns. I ended up finding/modifying one that I really enjoyed and is super simple to follow!

Step 1: Cut out two pieces of fabric; one at 2x3inches and one at 9×6.5inches.

Step 2: Fold each piece lengthwise and stictch along the open edge (right sides together). I used about a 1/4 inch seam allowance.

Step 3: Turn each piece right-side-out and iron flat with the seam running down the middle.

Step 4: Fold each piece upwards and stitch along the raw edge – right sides together. Again, I used a 1/4inch seam allowance.

Finally, turn the pieces right-side out. You will have two circular pieces at this point. Your last step will be to put the larger piece through the smaller piece until the smaller piece is in the center. Then you will fluff out the ends of your larger piece until it looks how you’d like and ta-da! Your very own bow!

To make it into a hair clip, I purchased a box of 100 hair clips from Sally’s Beauty Supply for about $7. I simply hot glued a clip into the center piece in the back.

And there you have it- a simple and easy DIY hair bow- perfect for sporting events, sororities, or everyday wear!

Product Empties: Springtime Edition

hello again friends!

I have been hoarding my garbage again. Whoopsie. But it’s for your benefit! I always love reading peoples empties posts or watching their videos because I feel like they give more complete reviews of their products. Sometimes first impressions aren’t everything, and using the product for a month or two can give you a better idea of its worth!

That all being said, I would love to share with you what have used up within the last few months of springtime!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion- omg long name. great product. I absolutely adore how this nightime cream smells, and used it primarily when I was having a bad skin day. It really helped keep the blemishes and redness at bay.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream- a crowd favorite, this cream is intensely moisturizing and I adore using it on my hands every night before bed. It keeps my hands soft all day!

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter- love this stuff. I have purchased 27million of them. Enough said.

Murray Clarifying Cleanser- This is one of my favorite face washes of all time. I rarely see immediate improvement with my breakouts but this wash instantly helps clear your skin. I love having this bottle around for that time of the month!

Essie polish in Style Hunter- I loved this bright pink color. Unfortunately the cap didn’t get screwed on tight enough and it dried out rather quickly 😦

Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat- again, love this top coat. It adds instant shine and helps my polish last longer on my nails!

Garnier Fructis Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray- I loved this hairspray soley for the fact that it smells brilliant. Frankly, most Garnier products have that outstanding quality. Was it the best hairspray ever, no probably not.

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Oil Treatment- I love putting an oil-based product in my hair after hopping out of the shower. It helps keep the frizz at bay and leaves the shine lasting all day long. This product lived up to those expectations and lasted literally forever!

Fekkai Color Care Luxe Color Masque- I love a good hair mask. This little treat helped my to lock in the moisture after excessive styling of my hair. It also made my locks suppppper soft for days!

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap in Peppermint- Technically, this isn’t makeup. However, it is my absolute favorite makeup brush cleaner….so it counts.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 012 Buff Beige- I adore this powder. Adoreeeeeeee it.

e.l.f Lip Exfoliator- Don’t buy this guys. I mean, I love a good lip exfoliator but this was like rubbing sandpaper on your lips and it broke the day I bought it.

Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil in Soft Brown- LOOOOOVE. My fave brow pencil ever! It creates the most natural looking brows!

Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation- Ok, why can I not buy this in the US yet?! This light foundation smells amaze and it gives such a dewy finish. I NEED MORE

Maybelline The Falsies mascara- A great drugstore mascara! This creates dramatic lashes, however there is quite a bit of fallout :/

And thats it guys and gals! I hope you enjoyed my garbage 😉 Maybe next time I won’t wait until I have so much…..

November Favorites

Oh boy,

This post is a tad late, like a week. Whoops. Forgive me?

Thank goodness.

Ok, so without further ado, I’d like to present to you my most loved goodies for the month of November. These are the items I was excited to use and never let out of my sight!

#1- Grace Helbig. In particular, her new book “Grace’s Guide.” I adored this book. It was the perfect way to end my evenings, reading a chapter or two before bed. Her hilarious antics and stories make you feel like you’ve found your long-lost goofball big sister.

#2- Kenra hair products. I’m not even going to limit it to one, the entire Kenra Platinum haircare range is superb. Maybe it’s because I recently spent too much money getting my hair colored that I feel as if I owe it better quality products- but more recently I’ve been venturing into the premium haircare brands at Ulta. And I’m so glad I did. The finishing spray, the texturizing spray, the curl defining cream, I could go on and on.

#3- MAC Lustre lipstick in Plumful. Sometimes I want a lip color but I’m not in the mood to reapply every hour or so. Plumful is the perfect all-season, not-too-bright but not-to-subtle color. Its pinky/purpley/reddy shade is so attractive on and I’ve found myself reaching more and more for it.

#4 Rose Gold necklaces. I am such a sucker for a bit of rose gold. I don’t know what it is about this shade of jewelry but I just find it so flattering! This specific necklace is a chunky chain piece I picked up at H&M and find an excuse to wear with every outfit.

#5 Benefit brows. I know I know. It really took me this long to jump on the benefit brow wagon? Yes, yes it did. And that’s all thanks to a certain someone who has brows of perfection and credits it solely to Benefit…you know who you are…

#6 Elizabeth Arden 8hr Nourishing Lip Balm. I love this. So much. You know how it’s super windy and cold this time of year? And regular old lip balms just won’t fix those chapped lips? Well look no further. This magic tube is all of your wishes come true. I’m a convert.

Whadya think? Any products you’ve tried out this month that you’d recommend? Let me know below!

Braided Crown Tutorial

Hi Hi!

Alright all, I am going to attempt to do my first hair tutorial. I usually wear my hair curly, and lately have been loving incorporating braids into it for a summer/festival feel.

First, I wash and condition my hair. I alternate between several different types- currently I’m using BedHead and Garnier. Next, I let my hair dry naturally, and run the Frizz Ease straightening creme through my hair. This allows my hair to hold the curl without being stiff, and smells great!

When my hair is dry, I spray the TRESemme thermal protectant spray throughout. I love this product as I truly think it protects my hair from using curling irons and straighteners.

I use a 1.5 inch curling wand to curl 1-2 inch sections of my hair. I curl each peice different directions as I think it gives my hair a more natural appearance.

After my entire head is curled, I center part, and run my fingers through my hair to loosen the curls. Next, I take a small section from directly behind my ear, braid it, and pull it directly over my head, pinning it behind my opposite ear.

Once both sides are braided and pulled over, it gives the appearance of a braided headband!
