Spring Makeup Haul

April showers bring….new makeup!

Can we make that a new motto?!

No but really, I’ve been trying to use up my current makeup stash, so buying new products hasn’t really been on my radar. Buuuuuuut, like any normal human-being, sometimes you just can’t help buying new things.

The Bloggers Made Me Do It! High-End Beauty

Hello friends!

We’ve all been there. You watch a YouTube video or read a blog post and suddenly you catch a glimpse of a product that you simply must have in your life. The blogger talks so keenly about how incredible it is, how it makes her look like Giselle and how her life has never been the same since.

You know.

A Little Soap & Glory Haul!

Hello hello!

I have my first British haul for ya’ll! (yes, I can rhyme).

And, as any true beauty blogger is aware, Soap & Glory is one of those beauty products that is associated with the U.K. Not only do the drugstores (or high-street stores- I’m learning!) carry the body care products, but there is a full makeup range too!

So, naturally, once I touched down in London, I scooted right off to the local Boots and picked up some goodies that I’d love to share with you!

I moved to London!

Hi friends!

So, big news, I’ve moved. And not just down the block or to another town. I up and moved across the world.

And so far, so good.

Let’s give you a back story, shall we?

I have been in love with fashion since I was a little girl. My favorite part of playing with Barbies when I was younger was buying them accessories and dressing them up time and time again.

One of my University degrees is in fashion, and the town I was living in was just not cutting it as far as inspiration and opportunity goes. And if this is the path I want to take in life, I need to be in an area where that can happen.

Luckily, I was admitted into an incredible program here so I can be surrounded by fashionable individuals in an incredible city where I can learn and grow as a creative person.

I’m so excited!!

Of course it’s also been difficult. Not having family or friends here, having to learn the city yourself (and get lost- a lot) and sometimes just sitting in your room make for a difficult adjustment. But then I’m reminded that I’m 100% surrounded by beauty, fashion, architecture, history and so much more. If I’m ever lonely I can find comfort in the many art museums, make new friends at one of the local coffee shops or simply ride the tube around town to *attempt to* gain some sort of bearing on this city.

So, I hope you’ll stick around for this crazy adventure of mine- I can’t wait to share it with you all 🙂

Until next time,

Milani Amore Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Hey friends!

I have got an incredible product to talk about today. I love a good liquid lipstick. I find them so easy to apply and love the finish they have. I’ve tried ones from a variety of high-end brands but have yet to find one at more affordable price point.

That is, until I watched a video by KathleenLights (found here) on YouTube and fell in love with these Milani Amore Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

I picked mine up in five different shades to test out. Now these are at an amazing price point of $6.99 each. I found mine at Walgreens which is the only location they are currently being sold at (as far as I could find) (UPDATE: I also saw them at CVS)! The collection currently has 8 colors and it is limited edition- so if you like anything, I’d recommend getting your hands on it quick!

What I loved about these lip colors so much was their formulation. They are so amazingly pigmented and incredibly long-lasting. I love to wear the lighter shades to work everyday and they always last at least 7 hours (even after eating and drinking)! These products do have quite a strong vanilla cupcake scent when you first apply it, but it does fade and you can’t smell it once they are on the lips.

Now I tried to do lip swatches for you all…buuuut they didn’t quite turn out so for color payoff here are some swatches of the colors (from lightest to darkest) on my arm.

When first swatched they seem quite glossy- but after about a minute or two they dry to the most gorgeous matte finish.

I honestly love all the colors so much I definietely couldnt pick a favorite- they are all incredible and would look great on a variety of skin tones.

What do you think? Have any of you tried these out?

Flawless Foundation: High-End Version

Hello hello!

Recently, I travelled to Las Vegas and did a bit of shopping (oops). I picked up some great foundation bits that have become staples in my foundation routine. You know how we all have those days where we just need a bit more coverage? Yeah me too.

Let’s start with the base; Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer. I tend to gravitate more towards matte primers since my skin has been super oily lately. This primer is AMAZING. I have tried SO MANY primers and honestly this one takes the cake. It truly helps my makeup last all day and helps the oil stay at bay. I found mine at Sephora, also available on their website here.

My foundation is also a new purchase; the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation. (Can we talk about how long these makeup names are lately? Sheesh). Anyways…I have been lusting after the silk creme foundations from Laura Mercier for ages, and vacation was the perfect excuse to pick one up. I was color matched to the shade creme ivory and it blends to my skin perfectly. I am completely impressed with how long this foundation lasts and its gorgeous matte finish. You can pick yours up at Sephora.com.

For conceler I have been loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. I use mine in the shade light warm. I am amazed with the feel of this concealer. Its so light but has an incredible amount of coverage. I love to use this to brighten my under eyes and around my nose. It doesn’t cake- which is a huge bonus. I picked mine up here.

Setting powder is another important aspect to a flawless foundation routine. This helps set everything in place and keep your face from slipping. For this routine I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, found here. (As a side note, at Sephora its available in travel size so you don’t have to invest in a larger one!) I love this setting powder; sometimes I find that by using a loose powder you can get more of a precise application (for underlies, etc;).

Lastly, to achieve this look I have been using one of my favorite new purchases; the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. Now everyone and their mom have been raving about this new introduction- and for good reason. This highlighter acts as the perfect addition to any face- it is more of a peach-pink toned illuminator and is absolutely stunning on. Thanks Jaclyn Hill 😉 The only bad thing is that it’s sold out almost everywhere I checked. Your best bet is to call around to your local Sephora’s or try ordering online here.

And here are the results:

I added a bit of eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick to polish off the look. Overall this look makes me feel uber confident in my skin- which every girl loves 🙂

Thoughts? Have any of you tried these products? P.S.- can you tell I’m a bit sunburnt?! YAY vacation!

Review: Topshop Lipsticks

Hi all!

I have always wanted to try Topshop lipsticks. The colors and packaging are so fun, so by my assumption the product had to be great as well! I don’t have a Topshop near me, but I love the companies website; its so easy to find what you’re looking for! They have great and realistic swatches for each color- plus they recently came out with limited edition rose gold packaging; which absolutely meant I needed to order a few.

Nevada: This is a gorgeous peach-toned nude color. I was really impressed with the pigmentation, however it did settle into the lines of my lips a little more than I would have liked.

Infrared: I don’t wear oranges that often, but I really like how they look on me. This color is a true orange, it has a slight hint of red, but barely. This color is so immensely pigmented, and smoothes onto the lips very easily.

Beguiled: This color was my automatic favorite. Deep berry tones are my go to lip color, especially in the fall. I know I will get serious use out of this color. This color wasn’t as opaque as Infrared, however it could be built up to a very strong color or worn lightly for a small wash of berry-tone.

Overall, I am highly impressed with the Topshop hippies and highly recommend them to anyone. I ordered mine off of their online site; here.

Have you guys tried these? What are your thoughts??
