Summertime Nail Colors

Hello again!

I go through phases where I have to paint my nails a new color every week. I also go through phases where I cannot be bothered to go anything to them.

This summer, thankfully, I am going through the former phase of obsessive compulsive nail painting.

I have been adoring Essie nail polishes lately. They have such a great consistency; they are pigmented, long-lasting, and the brush is the perfect size.

I am also loving white-based nail colors. The colors in the picture above are all different color families however they all have the same stark white base: which I adore.

From left to right; Fiji, Blossom Dandy, Mint Candy Apply, Lilacism, and Baby’s Breath. Aren’t they gorgeous??!!

I know they look a bit more springtime pastel, however I’ve noticed that white based colors have been quite popular this summer. I see celebrities, you tubers, and friends rocking all shades of the white toned nail polishes. My absolute favorite pictured above is the purple: called Lilacism. This color is absolutely stunning. Not too purple, almost slightly grey, I can see myself wearing this color all year round.
What are your favorite colors to wear during the summer?

Product Empties: Springtime Edition

hello again friends!

I have been hoarding my garbage again. Whoopsie. But it’s for your benefit! I always love reading peoples empties posts or watching their videos because I feel like they give more complete reviews of their products. Sometimes first impressions aren’t everything, and using the product for a month or two can give you a better idea of its worth!

That all being said, I would love to share with you what have used up within the last few months of springtime!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion- omg long name. great product. I absolutely adore how this nightime cream smells, and used it primarily when I was having a bad skin day. It really helped keep the blemishes and redness at bay.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream- a crowd favorite, this cream is intensely moisturizing and I adore using it on my hands every night before bed. It keeps my hands soft all day!

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter- love this stuff. I have purchased 27million of them. Enough said.

Murray Clarifying Cleanser- This is one of my favorite face washes of all time. I rarely see immediate improvement with my breakouts but this wash instantly helps clear your skin. I love having this bottle around for that time of the month!

Essie polish in Style Hunter- I loved this bright pink color. Unfortunately the cap didn’t get screwed on tight enough and it dried out rather quickly 😦

Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat- again, love this top coat. It adds instant shine and helps my polish last longer on my nails!

Garnier Fructis Volumizing Anti-Humidity Hairspray- I loved this hairspray soley for the fact that it smells brilliant. Frankly, most Garnier products have that outstanding quality. Was it the best hairspray ever, no probably not.

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Moroccan Oil Treatment- I love putting an oil-based product in my hair after hopping out of the shower. It helps keep the frizz at bay and leaves the shine lasting all day long. This product lived up to those expectations and lasted literally forever!

Fekkai Color Care Luxe Color Masque- I love a good hair mask. This little treat helped my to lock in the moisture after excessive styling of my hair. It also made my locks suppppper soft for days!

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap in Peppermint- Technically, this isn’t makeup. However, it is my absolute favorite makeup brush cleaner….so it counts.

Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 012 Buff Beige- I adore this powder. Adoreeeeeeee it.

e.l.f Lip Exfoliator- Don’t buy this guys. I mean, I love a good lip exfoliator but this was like rubbing sandpaper on your lips and it broke the day I bought it.

Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil in Soft Brown- LOOOOOVE. My fave brow pencil ever! It creates the most natural looking brows!

Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation- Ok, why can I not buy this in the US yet?! This light foundation smells amaze and it gives such a dewy finish. I NEED MORE

Maybelline The Falsies mascara- A great drugstore mascara! This creates dramatic lashes, however there is quite a bit of fallout :/

And thats it guys and gals! I hope you enjoyed my garbage 😉 Maybe next time I won’t wait until I have so much…..

Spring Drugstore Haul

Good afternoon loves!

Most of you have probably read last weeks post where I showed you all my recent high-end purchases. Since then I’ve been trying to spend a little less monies in the old makeup department, and frankly, some of the best makeup goodies can be found at your local drugstore! That being said, my little sister and I had a bit too much fun at her local CVS this last weekend and these were what we ended up with:

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso: I have heard everyone and their dog talk about this gorgeous peach toned blush, so naturally I had to pick one up. After using it once, I can honestly say this is an incredible product. It gives such a nice peach-bronzed glow to the face- perfect for summer!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent: This is by far the best blotting powder EVER. It works so well to mattify any look, stays all day, and is around $3. Ca-ching.

L’oreal Magic Lumi Primer: Haven’t tested this primer out yet- but I’m hoping it will work well for making my makeup last a little longer. My hunt for the perfect primer continues.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded: I adore the Maybelline Color Tattoos and I figured that this golden tan would be amazing on its own or layered with browns and rose tones during the summer. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I will let you know!

Essie Polish in Hubby for Dessert: This color is a part of their new bridal collection. It is a pale nude with a purple tint, and is absolutely gorgeous on! I have been loving white-toned pastels and this light purple is perfect.

MUA lipliner: This lipliner is in a clear color that is supposed to help all lipsticks from blurring at the edges. I was so excited when I first came across it and it has not disappointed. I wore it for around 6 hours the other day and it truly made my lipstick last SO much longer!

MUA lipstick in Raspberry: Again, wow MUA. This color is to-die-for. A gorgeous bright pink, I am beyond trilled to don this color for fun daytime adventures! It is highly pigmented and its lasting power is off the charts. Overall, I am extr

And that’s all folks! Any up coming post suggestions you’d like from me? I need some inspiration!!

Product Empties #1

I finally used up some beauty goodies! Isnt it such a satisfying feeling when you actually finish something?! I always feel like I’ve unlocked some sort of amazing achievement I lead such an exciting life….

Anywho…here is a delightful collection of what I’ve used up and a mini review of each:

Murad Clarifying Wipes: Not too shabby, definitely felt clean after using, but probably wouldn’t re purchase-not outstanding results

Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil: OMG literal life changer in the makeup remover world. A quick rub on the eyes will melt away even the darkest makeup. Will absolutely repurchase (in fact I have).

Origins Checks and Balances Face Wash: Pretty good face wash, very frothy and mild. Love this when my skins feeling a bit irritated since its quite subtle on the skin.

GlamGlow YouthMud Exfoliating mask: Amazing mask. This cleans deep into your pores and I have absolutely seen a difference the more I use it. I would repurchase if it wasn’t so darned expensive…

Murad Advanced Active Radiance Serum: I loved using this serum in the morning as a morning moisturizer- debating on repurchasing; same issue- too expensive!

Murad Clarifying Cleanser: Love this face wash. This is probably my favorite face wash at this point in time, and definitely will repurchase as it has really made a difference in my skin feeling more smooth and blemish free!

Other Beauty goodies:

Old Spice Sweat Defense Deodorant: Uhm….so obsessed. My armpits have never smelled so incredible and been so sweat resistant….tmi? That’s fine, its un-friggin-believably good.

Garnier Damage Eraser Hair Butter: This hair mask is perfect to put on your hair while in the shower after conditioning. It literally makes your hair soooooo soft. An absolute must-buy.

Lorac Bronzer: Basic, great color, nothing too outstanding

The Body Shop Body Butter in Raspberry: Smells absolutely incredible and really locks in the moisture on my skin! These body butters are some of the most moisturizing skin products I’ve tried- would highly recomment testing these out!

OPI Malaga Wine: The BEST oxblood color for fall. This is my staple fall color- already repurchased.

MAC Prep and Prime: An okay primer, not my fave but definitely not the worst. Didnt break out my skin at all.

And that’s it guys! I can’t believe I kept all these empty items around…I guess I should do these product empties a bit more often…

Manicure Monday: Gel DYI

About two weeks ago I visited one of my best friends for the weekend and we got up to the normal things girls do- shopping, watching sappy love movies, and painting our nails.

Now we all know how much I love painting my nails, so when I learned that she had a do-it-yourself gel manicure kit, I was so excited to try it!

My first thoughts regarding doing my own gel nails were basically, “oh sh*t,” and “lets see how bad I can mess this up.” But lo and behold, this Red Carpet Nails system is so easy to follow! The kit comes with a nail cleaner, prep polish, base coat, strengthener, top coat, a red polish color and a remover. It also comes with the UV light and usb plug-in.

It took around 45 the first time I tried the whole process with my bestie at her house, then I was so obsessed with her kit I went back and bought my own! The second time I tried it out it took around 30 minutes and was still super easy. Within the box their is an easy to follow directional paper that tells you times, amount of coats, and everything else youd need to know. The UV light is super easy to use, and is incredibly quick at setting the nails/polish as well.

It’s easy to add fun decorations to your nails using this kit too- glitter, gems, various colors. Another amazing aspect about DIY gel nails are their lasting power. My first manicure using this kit lasted two weeks without chips- TWO WEEKS! This is perfect if you have a job where your using your hands a lot; washing dishes, opening boxes, all that good stuff can sometimes destroy a nice manicure. But I have finally found a semi-cure with this gel kit.

And another benefit as you can see in my picture above is that when you get color or polish onto your skin it peels right off- allowing for a clean polished look!

And that’s it! My first forray into gel manicures! See you next time,

Manicure Monday: Pink & Bling

Hey all!

It has been a day since my last manicure monday post. To be honest, my nails have been bare and breathing lately- a suggestion I’d give to all my fellow nail polish addicts. But, alas, I couldnt last forever and needed a nice polish for the start of September.

I was fancying something a bit brighter, so I went with Essie’s Style Hunter. I used Sally Hansens Mega Shine Top Coat as both a base and top coat as well- I’m hoping this will help the manicure last a bit longer and keep its shine. After applying two coats of the Style Hunter polish, I placed these teardrop shaped diamonds on the base of each nail for a little extra bling for the start of fall! I purchased these gems in a pack with tons of different shapes from Amazon- I would highly recommend them!

Has anyone seen the new polish colors for the fall? I’m so excited for all the metallics and jewel tones- I can’t wait to make another trip to Ulta and pick up some new colors! Does anyone have any good suggestions for new fall colors? I’d love to hear!

Manicure Monday: Fourth of July Edition

Hi readers!

It has been quite some time since I have done a Manicure Monday post, but I was recently in the holiday spirit and thought I would share that with you all!

I absolutely love these nails and how they turned out! I think they are perfect for the 4th, and give me a little holiday spirit wherever I go!

The colors I used were OPI’s Color So Hot it Berns and Essie’s Strut Your Stuff. The red is my favorite bright red for summer. I usually wear it on my toes but it’s the perfect 4th of July Color! And can I just talk about how much I love this new blue color from the Essie Summer Collection?! I will probably be sporting it for the rest of the summer….just saying….

Anyways, that’s all for now!

Makeup May: Day 6- Let’s Talk Top Coats

Okay guys,

We all know I’m a nail polish junkie…I typically don’t get my nails professionally done, I love painting my own nails and trying new colors. But sometimes when you do your own nails, the polish doesn’t look as nice or stay on as long.

So I set myself on a mission: to find a top coat that will successfully keep my polish on longer, and make my nails look nicer!

I gathered the contestants:

1. Low end: Pure Ice Top Coat

2. Middle priced: Sally Hansen Mega Shine Top Coat

3. High End: OPI Start to Finish Base coat, Top coat, and Strengthener

I’ve used each of these products separately, multiple times, and feel justly entitled to give my opinion on them. None of these were outrageously horrible, however in my opinion there is a clear winner.

First, I’d like to talk about each top coat to give you a little better understanding of them!

The Pure Ice top coat is great if you just want to add a little bit of shine to your nails. Although it didn’t prevent chips or make my manicure last any longer, it did have a great consistency and went on easy. Next was the Sally Hansen mega shine top coat. This top coat has a great consistency, dried extremely quickly, and made my nails look professionally done. Although it didn’t make my manicure last extremely long, it definitely extended the wear of my polish! And finally, the higher end top coat I purchased was the OPI Start to Finish. I have had this polish the longest, and have therefore been able to try this one the most. Although I had high hopes for this product, it just didn’t meet my expectations. Unfortunately, after multiple uses the consistency of this top coat became extremely goopy and hard to use. It made my polish last slightly longer, by took forever to dry. It also gave my nails a slight bubbly look, almost as if there was carbonation in the bottle…needless to say it was weird.

So which top coat is the winner?!

Sally Hansen’s Mega Shine top coat completely exceeded my expectations for a drugstore top coat. For around 5.99 I got a top coat that did everything I wanted it to and more! Overall, I would definitely recommend this product!

Any top coats you would recommend me try?

Manicure Monday: Cool Blue

Hey hey loves!

Since spring is finally here I’ve been sporting brighter colored nails and have been loving it! Normally, I tend to stick in my safe zone, wearing mostly reds or pinks- but I’ve recently found this stunning cool blue color that I adore.

This color is Essie’s Bikini So Teeny, and is the perfect spring/summer blue! It’s not too pastel, but not too neon either. I also really love the consistency of this polish- I’ve noticed that Essie brushes are typically thinner than the OPI ones, and therefore are sometimes easier for precision painting.

I love wearing this polish with stacked rings to draw attention to the hand! It’s also a great color to wear with those spring dresses we can finally start pulling out of our closets! Yay!!

I hope you are all enjoying my manicure Monday posts! Let me know if there is anything you’d like me to try, or colors you’d like to see!
