Flawless Foundation: High-End Version

Hello hello!

Recently, I travelled to Las Vegas and did a bit of shopping (oops). I picked up some great foundation bits that have become staples in my foundation routine. You know how we all have those days where we just need a bit more coverage? Yeah me too.

Let’s start with the base; Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer. I tend to gravitate more towards matte primers since my skin has been super oily lately. This primer is AMAZING. I have tried SO MANY primers and honestly this one takes the cake. It truly helps my makeup last all day and helps the oil stay at bay. I found mine at Sephora, also available on their website here.

My foundation is also a new purchase; the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation. (Can we talk about how long these makeup names are lately? Sheesh). Anyways…I have been lusting after the silk creme foundations from Laura Mercier for ages, and vacation was the perfect excuse to pick one up. I was color matched to the shade creme ivory and it blends to my skin perfectly. I am completely impressed with how long this foundation lasts and its gorgeous matte finish. You can pick yours up at Sephora.com.

For conceler I have been loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. I use mine in the shade light warm. I am amazed with the feel of this concealer. Its so light but has an incredible amount of coverage. I love to use this to brighten my under eyes and around my nose. It doesn’t cake- which is a huge bonus. I picked mine up here.

Setting powder is another important aspect to a flawless foundation routine. This helps set everything in place and keep your face from slipping. For this routine I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, found here. (As a side note, at Sephora its available in travel size so you don’t have to invest in a larger one!) I love this setting powder; sometimes I find that by using a loose powder you can get more of a precise application (for underlies, etc;).

Lastly, to achieve this look I have been using one of my favorite new purchases; the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. Now everyone and their mom have been raving about this new introduction- and for good reason. This highlighter acts as the perfect addition to any face- it is more of a peach-pink toned illuminator and is absolutely stunning on. Thanks Jaclyn Hill ๐Ÿ˜‰ The only bad thing is that it’s sold out almost everywhere I checked. Your best bet is to call around to your local Sephora’s or try ordering online here.

And here are the results:

I added a bit of eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick to polish off the look. Overall this look makes me feel uber confident in my skin- which every girl loves ๐Ÿ™‚

Thoughts? Have any of you tried these products? P.S.- can you tell I’m a bit sunburnt?! YAY vacation!

August Favorites

Hi friends!

Another month has passed, and it is now officially fall. How do I determine that it isย fall? When pumpkin spice lattes come out, when I can start donning leggings and boots, when the leaves start to change, I could go on and on…

I’m going to be honest…I’m so excited for fall. It has always been my favorite time of year.

But, before I dive head first into that pool, let’s finish up this summer season with my favorite goodies from this month!

Book: The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. This book is such a page-turner. It is so full of twists and turns, up and downs, you will honestly not want to close this book. I think I read it in two days?

Makeup: The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. OMG. If you love Jaclyn Hill like I do you have to go out and purchase her latest collab with Becca cosmetics. Honestly my new fave highlighter. Secondly, the Milani Amore Matte Liquid Lipsticks. These lip colors are so pigmented, so long-lasting, so amazing I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Jewelry: I have been adoring this statement necklace I picked up at Francesca’s. The gold/cream/white color scheme makes it match with any outfit. It adds a dramatic kick to basic white tees or dresses up a summer dress.

Bodycare: The Body Shop is one of my favorites places and mango is one of my favorite scents. Put them together and you have the Mango Hand Cream from the Body Shop. I keep this little treat in my handbag and use it daily. It brings just the right amount of moisture to the skin without being greasy and smells divine.

Free Sample Friday: Becca Primer

Hi friends!

This week for Free Sample Friday I tested out a new primer.

beccaprimer.001

This primer is from the brand Becca. This brand is known for their outstanding quality highlighters so I was excited to test out another realm of their beauty line.

This is the Ever-Matte Powerless Perfecting Primer. If the name doesn’t talk the product up enough, the price should. Available at Sephora, a bottle slightly over one ounce runs for $36. Yikes.

So, on to the review. I used this product for a week straight every morning before applying my makeup. I used a small dollop across my forehead and another that I blended down my nose and chin. I first noticed the texture of this product. It almost felt like I was rubbing glue on my face; it was extremely sticky when applying but dried quickly. It had no scent which to me is a big bonus. Overall, I felt like it kept my naturally oily face slightly more matte throughout the day, however it wasn’t what I would consider a holy grail product. I also noticed a significant increase in acne when I began to use this product…so thats not good.

Would I purchase a full-size? No. I wasn’t that impressed unfortunately.

However, ff you’re interested in this product or any of Becca’s other great products, check them out from the Sephora website here!
