My Top 3 Perfumes

Hi friends!

Don’t you like to smell good?

OMG. Me too! We’re twins.

perfume.001

I never used to wear perfume. I just used to go au-natural. (And by that I mean like, deodorant and lotion and shampoo….)

But recently, I’ve stumbled onto another addiction. Great. Like I need another?

Now, it’s worth being said that I am quite picky when it comes to scents. I don’t like anything too powerful, nothing overly floral, nothing too sweet, basically…it just has to be….perfect.

We’ll start from my most recently acquired:

Prada Candy: I adore this scent. Clearly. It’s sweet but not sickly. I like to describe it as a daytime professional scent. I can wear it to work without it being overpowering, yet still get a light whiff every now and then.

Jo Malone Geranium & Verbena: I have always wanted a Jo Malone fragrance and have sniffed a bajillion and never found my true love. This scent is quite strong; yet it still has a light undertone of the verbena that makes it perfect for summertime.

Lancome La Vie Est Belle: Everyone has their signature scent that they search their whole life for. Or like, 24 years. For me, I knew once I sniffed this delicate goodness that it was meant to grace my skin for the rest of forever. It’s floral, light, sexy and sophisticated. Everything I hope to be ūüėČ

And there you have it. Your guide to smelling exactly like me. Which, is like, awesome.

Grandmother Knows Best

Hi friends!

Long time no talk? Sometimes we go through hurdles in life that send us flying into the wind. For me, a good month off the normal routine spending as much time with family as possible really puts things into perspective for me.

gma1

That leads me to one of those glamorous people in life I always admired; my grandmother.

I don’t know about you, but my grandmother is a looker. She always has been dressed to the nines, sporting the most gorgeous face of makeup ever since I can remember. Maybe that’s wear my love of beauty began to take root….

Recently, while visiting with her I asked “if you had to pick your top ten holy grail beauty items, what would you choose?” And I suppose this would make much more sense if you knew my grandma as beauty is her element. She sewed her own wedding dress, knows fashion better than most magazines, and can out talk any makeup counter employee about their own product.

So truthfully, I was incredibly interested myself. What does a woman, who has tried every high-end and high street brand, swear by? And here are her answers:

1. Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil: You never have to sharpen it, it lasts forever and is overall just wonderful

2. Maybelline Master precise Liquid Eyeliner: more matte than most liquid eyeliners and affordable

3. Physicians Formula moisturizer for normal to dry skin: works almost as a primer, non greasy, can wear night or day, moisture sinks in easy, looks fresh

4. John Frieda moisture barrier hairspray: keeps hair from frizzing

5. Garnier thick serem spray: spray on while damp, thickens your hair when blow dried

6. Lancome¬†Reenergize Foundation:¬†has light particles in it, doesn’t stick to dry patches, doesn’t need much powder to set

7. Estee¬†Lauder lip liner pencil in Fig:¬†more of a natural color, can wear with any lip color, comes with a lip brush on the other end, doesn’t feather like a lipstick

8. Covergirl Natural Glow Blush: used as a highlight, light hint of sparkles, can use on the brow bone

9. Bare Minerals “Well-Rested” Powder eyeshadow:¬†Use as an eyeshadow base, hinders the eyeshadow running down your face

10. Dove soap for sensitive skin:¬†doesn’t hurt eyes and can be used to remove face makeup and doesn’t irritate eyes

Needless to say I’ve already gone out and purchased several of these myself….

Isn’t she lovely?

Free Sample Fridays: Lancome Visionnaire

Welcome back readers to another wonderful addition of free sample fridays!

lancome

I have a great one for you today; Lancome’s Visionnaire. This product is boasted to be skin corrector and perfector, smooths lines and wrinkles, and deletes pores. Does it do its job?

Well, through multiple uses and many trials, I can honestly say this product is a win. I would usually use this product in the mornings, after washing my face. I liked to use it as a makeup primer. Its texture is velvety soft, smooth, and blends in seamlessly with your skin. It has a sheer color, and honestly made my skin SO SMOOTH!

Even before I put makeup on my skin looked more smooth, and after placing foundation over, my skin looked even better. I think that this is one of those products that makes your skin better and better over time- so I cant wait to use it more!

Would I purchase a full-size? Definitely!

Have you ever tried this goodie?

October Favorites

Oh goodness guys,

Its been awhile.

I can’t even remember the last time I wrote a monthly favorites post. I want to try to get back into the swing of things as I love sharing things that I am loving in my life with you all!

faves3

Fave Person:

The first thing I have been loving this month is a Youtuber- Zoe Sugg. Zoe, or “Zoella,” films beauty, makeup and lifestyle videos that showcase her everyday life and what she loves. Anytime I need a pick me up, I always turn to her channel to uplift my spirits. It’s nice to see someone else your age going through some of the same things as you with the normal bumps and rough patches we all go through. Recently, Zoe launched her own pamper evening collection of goodies- including this makeup bag. Of course, I couldn’t wait to support her in her adventure so I promtly placed an order:)

Fave Perfume:

All month I have been obsessed with Lancome La Vie Est Belle. I have never owned a scent that so perfectly captures who I am as a person. Its classic, not too sweet but not too musky, mature but youthful, and utterly magical. Plus, the boy likes it too!

Fave Face Product:

I have recently been getting back into using highlighters and contouring my face a bit more than I normally do. Along with that comes a hunt for the perect shade of highlight for my skin tone- in comes Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Opal. I adore this color for its blended gold, bronze, and opal tones. When applied lightly to the cheekbones, it gives the most subtle glow that draws attention to all the right places.

Fave Lippy:

I love red lipstick. Throwing some red on my lips makes me feel instantly put together, classy and strong- all aspects I admire in women and love to embody in myself. This Maybelline matte lip color in the shade Siren in Scarlett is bold, bright and daring. It gives a little boost of confidence all for under $10.

Fave Others:

I would like to discuss my obsession with candles. I looooove them. Like during the fall, I go absolutely mental and have so far purchased at least 6. Why? Because they’re so cozy! A simple candle can turn a room into a home, bringing warmth, character, and evoking emotion through scent. My favorite scents are slightly sweet, fall-like smells. And my favorite candle scent of all time is Pumpkin. This Yankee Candle in Pumpkin Spice is the end-all-be-all of pumpkin smells. I die.

Lastly, my hedgehogs. The cutest things ever?! Yes, I know. I found these little guys at Target and knew I couldn’t leave them behind. Each about $3, they are going to make my dining table so stinkin’ cute!

And that’s what I’ve been loving this month! What have you been loving?? I’d love to hear below, or you can let me know on Twitter, @xobrendykins!
