Spring Makeup Haul

April showers bring….new makeup!

Can we make that a new motto?!

No but really, I’ve been trying to use up my current makeup stash, so buying new products hasn’t really been on my radar. Buuuuuuut, like any normal human-being, sometimes you just can’t help buying new things.

Flawless Foundation: High-End Version

Hello hello!

Recently, I travelled to Las Vegas and did a bit of shopping (oops). I picked up some great foundation bits that have become staples in my foundation routine. You know how we all have those days where we just need a bit more coverage? Yeah me too.

Let’s start with the base; Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer. I tend to gravitate more towards matte primers since my skin has been super oily lately. This primer is AMAZING. I have tried SO MANY primers and honestly this one takes the cake. It truly helps my makeup last all day and helps the oil stay at bay. I found mine at Sephora, also available on their website here.

My foundation is also a new purchase; the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation. (Can we talk about how long these makeup names are lately? Sheesh). Anyways…I have been lusting after the silk creme foundations from Laura Mercier for ages, and vacation was the perfect excuse to pick one up. I was color matched to the shade creme ivory and it blends to my skin perfectly. I am completely impressed with how long this foundation lasts and its gorgeous matte finish. You can pick yours up at Sephora.com.

For conceler I have been loving the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. I use mine in the shade light warm. I am amazed with the feel of this concealer. Its so light but has an incredible amount of coverage. I love to use this to brighten my under eyes and around my nose. It doesn’t cake- which is a huge bonus. I picked mine up here.

Setting powder is another important aspect to a flawless foundation routine. This helps set everything in place and keep your face from slipping. For this routine I use the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, found here. (As a side note, at Sephora its available in travel size so you don’t have to invest in a larger one!) I love this setting powder; sometimes I find that by using a loose powder you can get more of a precise application (for underlies, etc;).

Lastly, to achieve this look I have been using one of my favorite new purchases; the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. Now everyone and their mom have been raving about this new introduction- and for good reason. This highlighter acts as the perfect addition to any face- it is more of a peach-pink toned illuminator and is absolutely stunning on. Thanks Jaclyn Hill 😉 The only bad thing is that it’s sold out almost everywhere I checked. Your best bet is to call around to your local Sephora’s or try ordering online here.

And here are the results:

I added a bit of eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick to polish off the look. Overall this look makes me feel uber confident in my skin- which every girl loves 🙂

Thoughts? Have any of you tried these products? P.S.- can you tell I’m a bit sunburnt?! YAY vacation!

Review: The Naked Smoky Palette

Hello friends!

Are you as obsessed  with Urban Decays Naked collection as I am?!

I adore all the palettes: I own the original and the Naked 3, and when news dropped that Urban Decay was launching another palette…I knew I needed it.

The Naked Smoky palette is a collection of 12 shadows with a grey base (instead of brown or rose). This palette is perfect for creating a dark, nighttime, smoky look: completely different from the previous releases.

I love how it does have several brown basic shades, but it morphes into darker grey and taupe shades. I have sampled all the shades on my eyes and am so impressed with the pigmentation and blend ability of these shadows. They truly are such great quality; absolutely worth the $54 price tag.

My favorite shades so far are Combust, Dirtysweet, Password and Dagger. I’m also obsessed with the grayish-purple shade called Smolder. This shade is absolutely stunning.

Now the packaging. Oh my goodness friends, Urban Decay keeps going above and beyond with their packaging. This case is a thick plastic, with a magnetic closure. It seems quite sturdy and would be ideal for traveling.

Overall, I am beyond impressed with this palette and would recommend it to everyone. There are colors to suit every skin tone as well as shades the create a daytime or nighttime look. It is a versatile and gorgeous treat 🙂

Who else picked this baby up?! Send me pictures of looks you create! I’d love some inspiration!

Valentines Day Makeup Look

Happy Valentines Day loves!

No matter your relationship status, I believe that today is the perfect excuse for you to dish out the looove. Whether that’s to your significant other, your friends, or yourself, everyone needs some TLC.

That being said, one of my favorite ways to feel good is to have a kick-butt makeup look.

This look is easily transferred from day to-night, so no matter the activity you’ll look great!

I started off with my Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation, Makeup Forever concealer, and Rimmel Stay Matte powder to get good coverage to last all day. Once you have a great lasting base on, its time to dress it up!

Pull the brows together with an angled brush and a dark brown powder, then get ready for the eyes! My favorite palette to use for dramatic eyes is the Naked 3 palette. I use the color Limit to cover the eyelid using the MAC 217 brush. Next, I layer the shimmer shade Burnout in the crease using the same brush. The way to take it from day to-night is to add a little darkness. I have been loving using the Real Techniques Bold Metals 201 brush. For this look I used the colors Mugshot and Factory to add depth in the crease and underneath the eyes.

I used the Loreal Infallible Super Slim liquid eyeliner to create a dramatic cat eye layered with the Urban Decay Perversion mascara.

Now for Valentines Day, I wanted my look to feel fresh, dewy, and flirty. To achieve this I used one of my new staple products- MAC cream blend blush in Ladyblush. This gorgeous muted rose color gives the perfect pinched coloring to the cheeks and by using a creme blush with a slightly damp brush can create a dewy and fresh look on the cheeks.

Polish your look off with your favorite power color lipstick- mines MACs All Fired Up.

And really, that’s all there is to it! So remember, whether or not you’re going on a date, staying in with friends, or pampering yourself with a lovely bubble bath, you deserve to hear that I love you 🙂

Free Sample Fridays: Urban Decay Eye Primer

Hello again!

This week for free sample fridays I’m testing out another eye primer. If anyone has ever purchased an Urban Decay Naked palette you’ll know that with the palettes come a little booklet of four different types of the Urban Decay eye primer.

The four colors include Original, Eden, Sin and Anti-Aging. The consistency of these if very similar to the Too Faced Shadow Insurance in the sense that it is a thicker liquid that smooths out very easily. I applied these with my finger tips, and was very impressed with their opacity.

Now, for a little review of each shade:

Original: basic nude color, think MAC paintpot in Painterly

Eden: A more opaque matte nude

Sin: a shimmering/metallic taupey-purple shade (gorgeoussss)

Anti-Aging: is a transparent shade- the softest of the bunch

My favorite shade is definitely Sin. I loved how in certain lights it appeared more brown, where in others it appeared more purple. The metallic color looked great worn on its own, or with other eyeshadows built over top.

Would I purchase a full-size? Yes! I would love my own bottle of the Sin Primer Potion!

Have any of you tried these? Do you prefer to where them alone or under shadow? Let me know below!

Winter Makeup Haul

Now that Christmas and the New Year have come and gone, I feel that it is time for a makeup switch up! After seeing all the new makeup hauls after Christmas, the new product hitting the shelves at Ulta and Sephora, and that general spendy vibe, I usually find myself purchasing a bit too much around this time of year. Whoops….

I have been loving the brand Tarte and have been dying to test out all their products- luckily (for my bank account) I decided to just try out two. First was the classic Light, Camera, Lashes mascara. This mascara has a great applicator, goes on smooth, and never clumps. It is completely buildable, and can be applied lightly or heavily. Next from Tarte, I picked up the Amazonian Clay full coverage powder foundation. I have the liquid version of this goodie and love it, so I knew I would like this version. And boy was I right. It is so light, yet full coverage, and has an amazing range of colors.

My next splurge was the original Naked palette. I own the Naked 3 and adore it, so I knew the original would become a fast favorite. This palette is great on my skin tone, and has a complete array of brown-gold neutrals that are perfect for any season. I can’t wait to play with this a little more and maybe do some makeup looks?! eh? eh?

To work with my new eyeshadow palette, I picked up the Too Faced Shadow Insurance in Champagne. I saw a blog post a while back on this little goodie, and immediately went to pick up one for myself. These primers have such a great pigmentation and allow for the eyeshadows placed over top to shine immensely. This champagne color is delightfully shimmery and brightens up the face during the dark and drab winter. It can be worn alone or under shadow, and looks glorious either way!

Finally, I have jumped on the contouring bandwagon. The Anastasia Contour palette comes with three light shades and three dark shades. They come in a variety of shades- ranging from yellow bases to red bases (allowing for a variety of skin tones). I adore the way these colors are dark enough to shadow and highlight, yet not too harsh. I have been having a lot of fun with this palette so comment below if you’d like a post all about this treat:)

And that’s it for my little winter makeup splurge. I’m hiding my bank cards from myself now…yeesh.
