Tutorial: Fresh Faced Everyday Makeup Look

Hey all!

Recently, I was asked how to accomplish a fresh-faced makeup look. Since it’s coming up to that time of year when high school seniors are getting their senior pictures taken I think/hope that some of you will find this post helpful!

Now, all that being said I think it’s important to state that I am by no means a makeup expert or trained in any way. I simply like playing with makeup and learn through trial and error!

I think it’s always important to start out any makeup look with a moisturized face. I personally use the Aveeno Smart Essentials Daily Nourishing Moisturizer with SPF 30. It’s so important to wear SPF daily, even if you’re not in the sun, plus this product smells amazing!

Next, I apply my foundation. For a more fresh-faced look I use a powder foundation with medium/buildable coverage. I think this looks less cakey and more natural. I apply this with a buffing brush to give a more even application. My favorite is the It Cosmetics Illumination Foundation in Light.

To give my eyes are more awake look and appear more fresh-faced, I like to apply a little concealer underneath my eyes. I use the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in the shade 125 Very Fair.

Now that my skin is taken care of, I move onto my eyes. I think that often the eyebrows are ignored, and with a little light powering or penciling, can really frame the face. I use a $3 Elf angled brush from Target and the Lancome shadow in the shade Faux Pas to lightly fill in my eyebrows.

Personally, I think a lighter eyeshadow look is more natural. I like to apply an all over cream color to even out discoloration. My favorite is the Mac Paint Pot in shade Painterly. I follow that up with another cream eyeshadow with a little more color and some shimmer as well. I like to apply both of these products with a clean ring finger as I feel it gives a better coverage and is easier to blend out. Buxom makes a great shade for this called Golden Retriever, although the Maybelline color tattoos would do the same for a less expensive alternative!

The next step is very important for a fresh-faced look. Blush, bronzer and a highlighter can brighten up a look and give definition to the face- making these great products for people getting their photos done. I’m a pretty low maintenance girl however, so I searched and found a product that gives the benefits of all three of these products in one sweep. The Too Faced Sweetheart blush in the shade Peach Beach gives a great blend of a light bronzer/highlighter and a great rosy-peach blush shade that gives the face a sun-kissed glow! I apply this with a fluffy brush to the apples of my cheeks.

To finish off the eyes, I like to use a volumizing mascara. My absolute fave at the moment is the Maybelline the Falsies. This mascara is my holy grail. It gives the best blackest black look without being clumpy and gives every set of eyes a great false lash effect all for the low price of around $5!

No makeup look would be complete without a lip color! I have been loving the Maybelline Baby Lips Crystal in the shade Pink Quartz for my everyday makeup look. This is such a great light pink color with a little bit of shimmer- perfect for the end of summer!
